We are all about finding ways to improve the quality of life for all of humanity. First and foremost, we are trying to clothe the naked, house the homeless, feed the hungry, heal the sick and educate the uneducated.
Housing the homeless is the first step toward creating a better world. Here we will present various ideas for creating shelters, both long term and short term habitats built out of local materials as possible.
We purchased an old 33 foot RV with the intention making it part of one of our stories and converting it into a portable office and solar powered low voltage demonstration model. We contend that 110/220 volts is not only expensive but wasteful as well, and that almost all the comforts and technology we take for granted today could be run on 12 to 24 volts. Aside from being mobile office space; this RV will become a demonstration model and educational tool to challenge conventional thought for housing the homeless and sustainable living.
Only by seeing what is possible can we even begin to ask the right questions.
An Update:
A major website upgrade to all our web sites is underway. Improved graphics and navigation menus are some of the things you will see. Once all our graphics have been revamped we will be focusing on the Ship's Computer our primary educational tool for all ages.
The REVCON has a 3-way internal power system, propane, 12-volts, and 120-volts. Also, an internal water tank and external water supply attachment, and, of course, the primary and secondary gas tanks for the Chevrolet 454 engine and backup generator, and a dump tank(s) gray/black sanitation system. The REVCON was the epitome of self-containment in 1982 recreational vehicles. Almost 4 billion people in the world would think that cramped lifestyle was luxurious. Even today, it's a valued living space to the homeless and those living in extreme poverty.
In 2012 it was estimated that using a poverty line of $1.25 a day, 1.2 billion people lived in poverty. Given the current economic model, built on GDP, it would take 100 years to bring the world's poorest up to the poverty line of $1.25 a day. 1.2 billion people would love to have a solid roof over their head and strong walls to keep the weather out.
We believe that in showing how simple it is to live off-grid and/or at a lower voltage with all the same technology we enjoy today will galvanize people to change their way of life and help others to do the same. Essentially, our recreational vehicle is a box on wheels that came pre-wired for our needs. Technology has changed, and we no longer need to be plugged into a 120-volt system. We wanted to use our recreational vehicle to demonstrate how easy it is to have your own space anywhere, and use of alternative energy systems as the major source of power.
While bigger is better, when you're trying to solve the homeless problem in the world, sometimes, it helps to start small. Sometimes the only thing you need to overcome homelessness is a place to call home. We want to show the world that home; that you can take a simple box and create entire communities that can help and support one another. You don't need to be rich to live like a king, but you do need a roof over your head to live at all. We want to upgrade our RV to be completely self-contained with, ultimately, an atmospheric water condenser all run on low-voltage of 12 to 24 volts or less.
The REVCON, our recreational vehicle, we want it to become a demonstration model for alternative energy and an alternative lifestyle wrapped in a storybook form in a universe all its own. As we draw attention to some of the issues facing the planet even as we look for solutions and create a database of a sort for a collection of answers to the basic needs of humanity to live and improve their circumstance in life.
